4-H Club wins big at fair

Fletcher – The Sandy Mush area of Leicester is known for its beauty, its valleys, and some of the best farmers in the state. However, that’s not all the area is known for now.

The Sandy Mush 4-H Club is no exception when it comes to being some of the best in the state. They won several showings at this year’s NC State Fair held at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher. Local resident Crystal Roberson Ball sent the paper this about the group’s participation at the fair.

Ball reported to the Leader that Sandy Mush 4-H got first place plus $250 with its Community Club Booth display and won Top 4-H Club plus $300 in the Market Broiler Show. “These kids took the fair by storm! As a Club working together, we had 4-H kids who participated in every show except one (llama). Cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, broilers, ducks, pigs, general exhibits and cooking contest, we entered. These kids rocked it,” said Ball.
