Music filled the mountain air event

By Clint Parker

Big Sandy Mush – Bluegrass and Gospel music filled the air Saturday afternoon as the third annual Shindig on the Mush was held off Early Mountain Road in the small community.

The event was held at Four M Events Center and featured several local and national known groups such as the King James Boys, His Fold, White Water Bluegrass and Nick Chandler & Delivered. The event started at noon with an hour break in the afternoon and picking back up at 5 pm and going to 9 pm.
The event was emceed by WNCW’s “Going Across The Mountain” weekly radio Bluegrass program host Joe Greene and sponsored by
Ken Wilson Ford and Jeff Auto.

Two of the groups features local musicians from Weaverville Ricky Pike of His Fold as well as his wife, Christy along with the rest of His Fold members Jeremy Elliott and Roger Brown.

Another Weaverville face there was Nick Chandler. Asked what he likes about the event, Chandler said, “What I like about this event is its artist-friendly. They’ve [Four M] really taken care of everything to make sure we’re taken care of…Good sound system. Nice covered venue. You know we’ve played places before where you walk out and you’re playing on some slabs on the ground and you got two mikes to use and you can’t hear anything.”

Chandler and his fellow artists can thank Mike Ford of the Volume Shop who Four M Event bought in to handle the sound for the enjoyment of the attendees. The Turkey Creek Cafe catered the food and CDs by the groups were on hand to be purchased.
