Leicester – On Monday December 17th at approximately 9:46 pm the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department received a call for service referenced as a home invasion at 33 Green Vale Drive in Leicester.
“Deputies arrived to the scene and witnessed a vehicle departing the area at a high rate of speed; the vehicle was subsequently located by a responding deputy, and was stopped below the victim’s residence,” said Buncombe County Spokesperson Natalie Bailey in a press release.
The Leader received several calls in regard to the large group of deputies that arrived on the scene. Tonya Jones posted, “Turkey Creek behind Dollar Store. Roads blocked like 40 cops and bunch of screaming and people on ground.” Joel Sprouse posted, “There is two in the house holding the homeowners hostage. Another one escaped.”
The official word from Lieutenant Kaiser of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department tells the Leader that an attempted breaking and entering occurred at a home on Green Vale Rd. Kaiser said, “The hostage situation is over and we have three people in custody.” Kaiser said, “No one has been injured.”
According to the press release, “After a preliminary investigation at the scene, it was determined that multiple suspects came to the aforementioned residence and knocked on the door. When one of the victim’s answered the door, Randall Dequan McDaniel, displayed a gun to him, and forced his way into the residence.
“A second suspect, Erin Nicole Tucker, followed McDaniel. Randall approached a bedroom door and kicked it in, then put a gun to a second victim’s head; he then exited the room, forcing the first victim out of the residence, and attempted to break the glass in a vehicle located outside” which is identified in he incident report as 2011 Nissan Frontier. “When McDaniel and Tucker heard sirens in the distance, they ran quickly to their vehicle which was parked at the end of the driveway of the residence, where a third suspect, Shannon Patrice Royal, was waiting.”
Randall Dequan McDaniel, 37, of 1 Granada Street, Apt. F in Asheville was arrested for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by felon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon; he is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on an $80,000 bond. Erin Nicole Tucker, 28, of 8 Stewart Street, Apt. E, in Asheville was arrested for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon; she is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a $65,000 bond, and Shannon Patrice Royal, 34, of 9 Granada Street, Apt. A in Asheville was arrested for aiding and abetting armed robbery.”
