Tap House hopes to tap new purpose

Leicester – Just a few minutes down the road at 2645B New Leicester Highway, sits The 63 Tap House. Formally The Still, new owners Kelvin and Leanne Kuykendall took over in September of last year.

“We were very excited to see the space become available,” said Leanne. “Being from the community out here, we wanted to make a space for friends, family and newcomers to the area to relax and enjoy and not have to drive so far away to do so.”

Former Firefighter turned contractor Kelvin and mortgage broker Leanne have been helping out the community they love for many years. This is just another way they intend to give back through good times and cheer. The couple intends to turn this once “rowdy” place into a place where all ages can come, meet their neighbors new and old, and enjoy each other’s company.

The 63 Tap House offers over 14 local and domestic drafts and a full wine selection, in a newly designed “Country style” interior that rivals anything in downtown Asheville. Offering the best of the area such as Asheville Brewing, Hi-Wire, Sierra Nevada, Noble Cider, Highland Brewing Company and of course those domestic favorites such as Budweiser, they definitely try catering to everyone’s taste. Chips and other small food items are also at the bar for anyone who wants a light snack with their beverage.

Upon entering the stone building, you see the beautifully-restored Billiard tables as well as a newly-renovated bar and Dart Board wall. They also offer a number of events at their establishment including Dart Board competitions through the Western Carolina Dart Association (the Tap House even sponsors a team of its own). Darts not your thing? Then try open pool league tournaments on Tuesday and Wednesday each week, with free pool on Thursdays. Then there’s Karaoke on Saturdays, and come hungry on Sunday for a fabulous home-cooked meal by Leanne herself.

The courtyard in the back is a great place for the kids(welcomed before 8 PM) to play Corn Hole and the pups to run around in an enclosed environment while the adults relax and converse.

So, if you are driving down New Leicester Highway stop in and say hello to the Kuykendalls. As I was, you will be welcomed with that Southern Hospitality and treated to a delicious craft beer and a game of your choosing. The 63 Tap House is open seven days a week and for a full list of hours and events check them out and like them on Facebook. Stop in, meet the neighbors and give The 63 Tap House a big welcome home.
