Warriors crush Cougars in playoffs

By Benjamin Cohn

EHS – In the first week of this year’s 3AA high school football championships, the hosting Erwin Warriors scored a convincing 48 points against Alexander Central’s defense while allowing only 21 by the Cougars.

Erwin High, seeded sixth, is on the road next week when they face number-three seed Mount Tabor High in Winston-Salem. Should Erwin prevail, they will likely face A.C. Reynolds, the number-two seed, also the only school to defeat Erwin in their division, in week three of regular season play. You can read the game’s complete scoring play-by-play details in this week’s Leicester Leader out Thursday.
